Three years ago I had a "wake-up call" and decided to make some serious changes in my life. I won't get into all of the details right now, but suffice it to say that I came to the conclusion that if I wanted to be helpful to others it required me to be happy and healthy because I believe we are of the greatest service to others when we are at our best. To be at our best requires us to be healthy.
The pandemic has been a tough time for most people and now that we are coming out of it, we all need to refocus and get a new grasp on living healthy and being the best version of ourselves that we can be.
Nancy and I recently attended an online webinar on "What's Ailing Canadians?" We are working on some material from this webinar and will write about it more later, but we do want to share one insight with you that we learned from this webinar - "we have to look after ourselves better." It's called self-care.
What is self-care?
It's kind of like putting on your own oxygen mask before trying to assist others with their masks. Self-care isn't just bubble baths, chocolates, and other indulgences, but rather, it's about looking after ourselves mind, body, and spirit.
There are things you just need to have each week in order to function properly. Food, exercise, leisure, alone time, sleep, creative time, fun, etc.
We have been living in chaotic times and we need to recalibrate so that we can live a balanced life.
