Travel Insurance Here - Quote and Apply Here

Retirement Income Planning, Calgary

If you're travelling outside of Canada in the next little while make sure you understand what you have for Emergency Travel Insurance. Just search the web and you will find some horror stories about travel insurance. Here are a couple of tips:

1.) Check your coverage. If you are depending on the coverage through your Credit Card or group plan at work read the fine print. There are limitations to this coverage, especially with the maximum days per trip you will be covered and how much coverage you have, especially after age 65.

2.) Make sure you have the Travel Card with you or the policy number along with the 1-800 number so that you can call your provider as soon as you may need medical help. Most providers of Travel Insurance will limit your coverage if you do not call them within 24-48 hours of a claim.

3.) If you are applying for Travel Insurance for a single trip or buying a multi-trip plan make sure you are covered for the actual days you will be away. And, answer the questions honestly and accurately.

4.) Don't travel without Emergency Travel Insurance - the costs of medical care outside of Canada is costly. Buying this insurance is a safer route to go and it will give you the peace of mind to enjoy your trip. I know of 2 people in the past few months who have made claims while in the US and the Manulife insurance covered them.

5.) Make sure you have the correct COVID 19 coverage. Manulife is one of the few providers that offer this specialized option to cover you if you test positive for COVID before or during your trip.

6.) Trip cancellation and interruption. Sometimes there is some protection offered through your credit card, but don't assume anything. Instead, buy a separate policy to protect your trip in case something happens and you can't go.

7.) Buy an annual plan that covers you for the next 12 months for multiple trips. This way you don't have to keep applying every time you are heading out of the country. Manulife also offers a Travel 80 plan that you can purchase pre-age 65. This plan guarantees coverage to you up to age 80 for multiple trips per year. No need to be complete questions every few months. It's a little expensive, but it does offer a 50% refund if you do not have any claims over a 10-year period. Here's the rate card.

If you are nearing retirement, newly retired, or well into that stage of life and need some honest, reliable financial advice and tax planning services, I highly recommend Willis and Nancy Langford at Langford Financial. I have been working with them since the fall of 2020 and am really happy I made the switch.

I needed much better advice than I was getting from my new bank rep as I was actively preparing for retirement. I found Langford Financial online and booked a review meeting. I was happy that I was sent a complete list of all the information that would be needed prior to my initial meeting so I arrived prepared.

From that initial meeting, I decided to have Willis prepare a retirement plan for me. After we reviewed everything he had prepared, I felt much more confident in what was to come financially during retirement and how I could manage it. That's when I decided to transfer my investment portfolio from my bank to Langford Financial so they could manage it with and for me. I felt they really had my best interests at heart.

It was a pleasant surprise that their approach combined both income planning for retirement and tax planning for both the immediate future and well into retirement. This has proven to be very helpful as it has ended up saving me a lot of money (a lot!) by using credits that had been missed by the company I previously used to prepare my taxes.

I really like working with Willis and Nancy. They are very quick to answer any questions I have and can accommodate virtual or in-person meetings based on what is needed. They also produce a regular newsletter that I really enjoy. It has lots of tips in it and some very good in-depth information that helps me make better decisions---or at least ask better questions!

Moving to Langford Financial was a great decision for me. It has lead to better financial planning and decision-making and much greater peace of mind for me at this time of life.
